Luxury Living

Luxury Living

This new 6,200 square foot home replaces an older one that was too small and in dire need of updating. It provides a single floor of ample living and entertaining space for the owners as well as a private office that allows the owners to work from home. A second floor of guest suites welcomes family and friends when they visit. Taking a design approach to living that creates outdoor spaces that function as extended living spaces we connect indoor and outdoor seamlessly. The front yard that acts as a reception area for entertaining has a large hospitable patio that connects directly to the living room and can be used for piano recitals. The rear yard, which has a direct connection to the Great Room and Breakfast Area, is a beautifully landscaped, private park containing a pool, pool house and a walking path with various water features.

Historic Addition

Historic Addition

With new first floor "Mother/Daughter" apartment and second floor Master Suite, this 1,880 square foot addition effectively doubled the size of the home. Exercising a delicate touch we were able to enlarge this older home in Ramsey, NJ to meet the needs of a contemporary family without sacrificing the structure's historic character. Capturing elements of the original home but using modern building technology, the addition appears to have always been there.

This 900 square foot addition plus a new freestanding garage solved this family's space shortage within the constraints of a challenging lot. The work provided a new Living Room and room for a sitting area attached to the Kitchen as well as two new second floor bedrooms all while retaining a unique Ridgewood character. The addition also created distinct outdoor areas with the Front Yard becoming the public greeting space and the rear yard becoming the private space for family.

Home Office

Home Office

A county road makes for a great location for a doctor's home office, the trick in its design is to make comfortable living quarters and an efficient office layout. Adding a new second floor to existing ranch provided the extra square foot needed for the family in a symmetrical elevation which allowed for the separation and clear delineation of each use. The doctor loves his commute and the patient enjoys the causally professional atmosphere.

Make Over

Make Over

Hillsdale, New Jersey is a fully developed bedroom community. Tree lined streets, cozy yards and tight lots make for a neighborhood where the need for extra square feet mandates the design to be make over instead of an addition. When this project was completed the nicest compliment came from a neighbor who said that the house was harmonious with the neighborhood.

2 Family Living

2 Family Living

A two family solution doesn't have to look like 2 houses smacked together. A common front door to a shared foyer and a divided two car garage allows for separation while a street porch for one and balconies for the other offers a shared use of the property without sacrifices privacy.

Doubling Up

Doubling Up

When the first floor works but extra space is needed the easiest thing to do is add a second floor, the hard part is doing it so that looks right. This design uses overhangs; flip flopping roof lines and more than just siding for a very nice curb appeal.
